SummerSolstice2021.jpgSummer Salutations!

Ma describes a pause in time, creating emptiness in space from which life emerges.

The kanji symbol for Ma combines door and sun .

Together they depict a door through the crevice of which the sunlight peeps in .

This door opens to Light, which enables growth, sparks creativity, and permits freedom.

This is so apropos for the Solstice ~ “Sun Standing Still

On June 20th, the sun moves into Cancer’s domain of the zodiac, opening the door to Summer.

The solar path’s golden radiance now shines at its zenith over the northern hemisphere.

From earth’s perspective, it appears to stand still, rising and setting at the exact same point on the skyline.

Like true royalty, the Solstice Sun takes a few days to rest and revel at this turning point.

Soon it will begin its return, rising and setting at subsequent points along the horizon, moving slowly in the opposite direction.

I dedicate this offering to Áine ~ Irish Goddess of MidSummer. Her name means brightness, joy, and radiance.

She is associated with Love, fertility, the Sun and Sovereignty, and is often depicted as a red mare.

Descendents of the Eóganachta, the clan from which the McCarthys descend claim her as an ancestor.

May you receive Her Blessings of Solstice Energy ~ ‘reSUNating’ with the field of our bright star’s peak energy.

Here is a 3 part embodied practice that we can do this SUN Day, or anytime as meditative visualization.

(Please look for an mp3 of this 3 Sun Meditation at the bottom of the email)

At Dawn ~ We step outside before sunrise and face the eastern the point on the horizon where the sun will soon appear.

We guide our breath into harmony with the morning breeze, and settle our sweet body into Mother Earth’s care.

As the sun’s first rays touch us, we feel the Light warming our eyes, our throat, our heart, our solar plexus, and our low belly.

We feel ourselves being seen by the Sun, as we stand fully illuminated in both our vulnerability and courage.

We make an offering of our sacred, authentic nature – to our self, to our family, to our community, to whatever our heart desires.

Turning sunwise ~ 90° to the right, we feel the sun warming our whole left side, and we blend the felt sense of our back body with our front.

Most of us are more familiar with - and attuned to - the front of our body, in relation to the ‘illuminated’ world in front of us.

In western culture, our energy body often moves out ahead of us - in anticipation of our next action.

It feels restful and nourishing to unite and harmonize our BodySoul, and to move without urgency.

When ready, we turn sunwise again, offering our back to the sun, as we open awareness throughout the whole back of our body.

As the rising sun radiates into the morning, we relax and gratefully receive its warmth and Blessings.

We turn once more,  90° to the right, this time offering our right side to the sun, helping us to sense the integration of our front and back.

Like the earth spinning on her axis, from our central channel, we place attention on the union of our whole right side.

Once more time we turn sunwise, coming full circle to face the Solstice Sun, standing bright in our wholeness.

We are filled with the peace of our expanded awareness that gently flows as an expression of our aliveness.

We let our body blossom into prayer, dance or any spontaneous expression of gratitude.

At Midday~ We stand on the earth under the noonday sun, feeling the light shining down upon our crown.

We attune to the sensation of sunlight flowing down into and through us into the earth–

Illuminating our brain, central nervous system, immune system, digestive system, and skeletal and muscular systems.

We feel the sun shining into our heart center and our belly, remembering that Cancer rules the breasts and stomach.

So we Let the Sun Shine In to these tender places that give and receive nourishment.

Our sun-warm body prayer flows down through us and into the soil, all the way down to Gaia’s fiery core.

As our body becomes a conduit between the earth and sun,

We welcome the guidance of our intuition in order to sense what personal alchemy might be key to this moment.

At Sunset~ We gather to bid adieu to the sun on this Longest Day.

Bringing awareness to our luminous nature, we take a moment to feel and share our gratitude for the sun.

We take our time to stand in this abundance of Light, well into twilight’s afterglow.

We know that from here on until winter, the sun will not rise quite as high in the sky, and our days will shorten, little by little.

The abundance of light on this first day of Summer will incrementally diminish over the next half year.

Acknowledging this, we turn around a full 180°, to receive the lingering light into our back body and

We turn to the east, facing the future of a new tomorrow, carrying this warmth in our hearts.

Radiant Solar Blessings with Love,

Sharon

We are the Sun

The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us.

Thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing.

The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as well as our souls, and every bird song, wind song,

and tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountains is our song, our very own, and sings our love. —John Muir
